About the Project

Current Problem:

  • Slow processing time for all the applications.

  • Currently, all applications are processed manually.

  • Countless hours are spent training volunteers how to process applications.

  • Many errors occur when processing the applications.

Project Solution:

  • Habitat wanted a software that processed applications for volunteers.

  • Key functionality of the product:

    • Volunteers can create new applications.

    • Volunteers can perform calculations on applications.

    • Volunteers can view and manage existing applications.

    • Admin can add new fields and phases for applications

    • Admin can add volunteer accounts.

Technical Challenges:

  • Optical Character Recognition (OCR) technology  was not reliable for handwritten forms.

  • Initial Project proposal from client was out of scope for completing in one semester.

  • Design of backend to handle dynamic field and phases generation.

  • Implementation of calculations software.
